July 8th, 9th, 10th of 2011 is not only a great date but marks the date for the North East Youth Show and Sale and the 2011 Southdown National Junior Show and Sale. New England Southdown Breeders Association in cooperation with the North East Youth show and sale are again hosting a fun filled weekend of sheep activities at the fantastic Mallary Complex at Eastern States Exposition. The event will start Thursday night with welcoming activities and a quiz bowl. Please remember that 11:00 p.m. all sheep must be penned. Friday will be the sale show, supreme ram and ewe selection, ice cream social and market lamb shows. Saturday will begin with the sale, then equipment auction. Remember that ½ hour after the conclusion of the sale Showmanship classes begin. Sunday will be the junior breeding sheep shows and supreme selections, don’t forget there is a supreme flock as well. We will also honor a Best Southdown Breed Type Ram and Ewe during the junior show. Important information will be posted there about dress codes as well, we also would like to mention that the entry fee is $5.00 per head with automatic entry in group classes for Southdown Junior Show Exhibitors.
Northeast Southdown Association Youth Award Application available: There are many fantastic things going on during the weekend, for starters New England Southdown Breeders offer a 100 buyer’s credit raffle given to anyone purchasing a Southdown. Make sure to sign up for one! Grab your seat and watch the National Sale entries closely. The Southdown sale will start with the auctioning of a donated ewe lamb. Much thanks to the Howe Family of Legacy Farm, New Hampshire. Champions and Reserve Champions will be awarded banners made by Claudette Choma of Connecticut With quiz bowls, skill a thons, ice cream socials and lamb BBQ, silent raffles and great fellowship you won’t want to miss it. Sponsors at three levels can support this weekend by joining us. There are three levels of sponsorship bronze $25-$49, silver $50-$74 or gold $75 or more. Mid -States Supplies and Eastern States Exposition have already joined us in honoring Southdown kids and helping us make this a fun filled weekend. The show and sale headquarters are: Candlewood Suites 572 Riverdale Rd. West Springfield, MA 01089 1-413-739-1122 Base Rate of $99 per night. Camping spaces: available right on the grounds with water and sewer hook ups for $25 for the weekend, payable at the time of entry.
